Registration

Registration for the 40th National Veterans Wheelchair Games is now open. Plan to register as soon as possible! Completed registration forms are accepted once the online portion and medical clearance are received. No events will be assigned until the registration is completed. 

One coach per five athletes may register by completing the required coach registration forms. All registration deadlines apply to both coaches and athletes.

Eligibility

Participation is open to Veterans with spinal cord injuries, amputations, multiple sclerosis, or other central neurological conditions who require a wheelchair for competition. Physical disabilities must impact mobility and be both permanent and measurable. Exclusionary primary diagnoses include but are not limited to pain, arthritis, and emotional and psychological conditions. All Veterans registering for the Wheelchair Games must be eligible to receive care at a VA medical facility.

Do not send the Medical Form until you have completed the rest of your 2020 Wheelchair Games registration. If your condition changes between the time you submit your registration and the Wheelchair Games in July 2020, you must notify your VA physician and consult with the Wheelchair Games staff.

In all events, athletes compete against others with similar athletic ability, competitive experience, or age. Please see the Events & Rules Guide for more information.

Novice Scholarship Opportunity

The National Veterans Wheelchair Games is about promoting the health and independence of our nation’s Veterans with spinal cord injuries, amputations, multiple sclerosis, and other neurologic conditions through wheelchair sports and recreation. The Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) is an integral part of the VA community and committed to supporting the well-being of our Veterans. 

As a long-time sponsor of the Wheelchair Games, VCS has expanded their support to make sure that no eligible Novice Veteran misses out on the opportunity to participate because of cost. 

To be eligible, you must be:
  • Registered for the 40th Wheelchair Games AND
  • Be part of a VA Medical Center Team
Only 50 Novice Veterans will receive financial support for travel and housing during the 40th Wheelchair Games—so apply early! Applications due by April 15, 2020.

Please note: These funds are intended for Novice athletes without other funding support!
